Esteemed listmembers,

Returning to Godheimar the word mean literally "god
home". Snorri gives two equivalents for Godheimar:
the first corresponds to Svithiod in mikla, the second includes
Tyrkland and Vanaheimr as well.

Does Snorri's Heimskringla has an historical base? Yes,
the differing views, according to Professor Pritsak,
arose because Snorri used a ginning device in
presenting the same epic event several times, each time
from a different perspective. Once Snorri used a Trojan
legend. Another time he operated with Gothic/Germanic mythology.
Odin was Asa-Odin as Odin of the Tyrkir (Kazhars?) - in
fact their Tyrkjakonungr.

Gothically

Bertil
