Ninth Gothic War 274-276 AD

Emperor Aurelianus in 274 AD makes a new
Roman attempt to attack the Gothic kingdom and
goes on the offensive into Dacia, but the Goths retreat.
The attack results in Rome ceading formally all territory
north of the Danube. One can speculate if Aurelianius was
defeated or not, but it seems so.

Emperor Tacitus in 276 AD continues the Gothic war
and attempts to end it. He manages to block a Gothic-
Erulic fleet in the sea of Marmara, but is killed during
a soldier mutiny.

After these violent decades peace seems to be achieved in
the area and the next Gothic war does not start until 321 AD
with a renewed Roman attack.
