To all listmembers, I want to sincerely thank you all, I am learning a great deal just reading what you have to say.
Keep it up, this is great.

Sincerely, Bill
P.S. What would my name look and sound like in the Gothic language?

Esteemed listmembers and debaters on the Gutar and
the Goths,

Nothing negative on the dead but I don't think Professor
Ingemar Olsson's theories on the origin of the name
Gutland can hold. He wrote in his book "Gotlaendska ortnamn"
Well, his attempt is as
good as any but he admits he is not sure.

Professor Elias Wessén, the renowned linguist, noted that Wulfstan
was the first to mention Gutland (Gotland). Around 1200 in _Historia
Norwegiae_ "Gotorum insulam et eynorum (referring to Oeland).
Runish "a kutlanti" or "af kutlanti.

Professor Wessén also mentions that Scandza, that is Scandia, is a
shortened version of Scandinavia, older Scadinavia, an original
form for Skaane (Scania).

Gothically

Bertil
