Hi Francisc,

I think it is also believed that instead of the origin Jases, Ases,
Alans, the Russian term Jas is simply derived from the name Jazyg. The
Jazygs were the same as (or a part of) the Sarmatians. In turn the
Sarmatians were also Iranian people like the Alans and the name
Sarmatian may have been another name for the Alans (perhaps their
earliest name).

But note that there is also the theory that the Russian Jases (Ases)
were a turkic people that had nothing to do with the Iranian Alans.
Thus, one of the clans/tribes of the Volga Bulgars was called the
Yasi/Asi.
