Nikolai,

To relate your question on Romania-Hungary to the
Goths. Professor Bucur Mitrea in Bucharest
in the 1970s at a Stockholm symosium pondered
the Gothic migration from
southern Scandinavia. His opinion was naturally
that the Goths on their migration southeastward
subjected and chased away peoples in the areas
they pasased. It resulted in a wide change of
settlement for the different peoples in these areas.
Professor Mitrea was of the view that the Goths
arrived at the border of the Roman empire
238-244 AD. To arrive at the Danube (the border
of the empire) the Goths had to take the Roman
castle at Barbosi. Research has also shown (unless
not changed by later research) that the Goths initially
settled only in the Danube valley.

Professor Mitrea also mentions the fact that
the Goths kept their contacts with South
Scandinavia. In Gothic graves amber from the Baltic
Sea has been found and also villages with Gothic
houses (18 x 36 feet). After the arrival of the Huns
the Goths left Dacia and settled south of the Danube.

Gothically
