I'm sorry I haven't got explanation for the entire subject of the stone inscription.

Of course neither Ermanaric nor Theodoric were kings of sea-warriors.

Just as Skjold hardly was a konnung of Reidgotaland (Yngling saga if I remember right).

All this relates to mythology more than to history.

But if we consider Ermanaric and Theodoric having been real kings (or rulers)

then we should admit reality of Gothic sea-warriors

though not obligatory under power of Ermanaric or Theodoric.

The question is only at Baltic or Black Sea. I like more the latter.

Your choice may be another.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

These pirates were Goths, Heruls and the unknown Borani - called
Scythes in some sources - mentioned at a few campaigns in the 3rd
century AD at the Black Sea. Why should they in Sweden in the 9th
century be identified with Theodoric's soldiers?

Are Theodoric or Ermaneric called kings of "sea-warriors" in any
other sources in the meantime?

Where is the connection between Theodoric and these ancestors of the
people in the country of the Goetes being killed 9 generations ago?
