Dear listmembers,

The Gotlandic picture stones could very well be linked to
to the Goti, Eruli and Varangian Guard through the
"Hun-" placenames. One example is the Hunninge pricture
¨stone in Klinte Parish. The same goes for the Hunnestad
monument in Scania which in all likelihood is showing
a member of the Varangian Guard and a lion of Byzantian
type. Many of the monuments are younger than the
connections between the Huns and the Goti, Eruli but
is an indication of continuing contacts.

As pointed out by Rhodin - Lindblom - Klang there is
no direct connection to the Huns but rather a local
designation of Ostrogoths, Eruli and others due to
the Hunnic connection on the continent.

Gothically
