Having arrived at the last Gothic Roman War before the
fall of the west Roman empire I would like to thank those
who contributed factually to widen the perspective. The
purpose of my modest series has been to illustrate how
the final kingdoms of the Goths in Italy and Spain were
preceded by military interaction between Goths and Romans.

This last war could be a strategy of the Ostrogoths, the Visigoths
and the Vandals to finally put an end to a west Roman empire
that was ripe to fallanyway and actually in reality had been taken
over long before via mercenaries and Gothic plus other Germanic
commanders in Roman service. The Gothic kingdoms in Italy
and Spain could be said to provide the nucleus of what would
eventually be a united Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Visigothic King Eurich, that conquered the throne by murdering
his brother King Theoderich II in 466 AD continued the fight for Gaul
an completed the conquest with acquiring all land between Loire,
Rhone, the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees and started the conquest
of Spain. It resulted in the Suebi under King Remismund being forced
to accept Visigothic rule. A small area in northen Gaul around Soissons
remained under Roman rule for a short time under governor Syagrius.
