[gothic-l] A Few Words on Heather

Thought it might be of interest to relate a few words
on Heather, who is working to become the main expert
on the Goths and the Huns in Europe. I am thinking of his book
_The Huns_ of 1996. This is in reality a new edition of E.A. Thompson's
book _A History of Attila and the Huns_ from 1948.
Thompson wanted a new edition but passed away in 1994.
Then Heather completed the revision but only so far as
those changes allowed by Thompson. But Heather added
an afterword of his own. Otto J. Maenchen-Helfen, another
expert on the Huns, also passed away in 1994.

So it is more a coincidence that Heather has ended up
where he is.
