Subject: ACTION ALERT!

ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT!

FLAP IN HANDS OF COMMITTEE

All the representatives to the Education Conference Committee now have been
named!

On the Senate side they are Democrats Edward Kennedy (MA), Christopher Dodd
(CT), Tom Harkin (IA), Barbara Mikulski (MD), Jeff Bingaman (NM), Paul
Wellstone (MN), Patty Murray (WA), Jack Reed (RI), John Edwards (NC),
Hillary Clinton (NY), Joseph Lieberman (CT), and Evan Bayh (ID); Republicans
Judd Gregg (NH), Bill Frist (TN), Mike Enzi (WY), Tim Hutchinson (AR), John
Warner (VA), Christopher Bond (MO), Pat Roberts (KS), Susan Collins (ME),
Jeff Sessions (AL), Mike DeWine (OH), Wayne Allard (CO), and John Ensign
(NV); and Independent Jim Jeffords (VT).

On the House side they are Democrats George Miller (CA-41st), Dale Kildee
(MI-9th), Major Owens (NY-11th), Patsy Mink (HI-2nd), Robert Andrews
(NJ-1st), and Tim Roemer (IN-3rd); and Republicans John Boehner (OH-8th),
Thomas Petri (WI-6th), Marge Roukema (NJ-5th), Howard McKeon (CA-25th),
Michael Castle (DE-at large), Lindsey Graham (SC-3rd), Van Hilleary
(TN-4th), and Johnny Isakson (GA-6th).

The selection of House conferees did not go in our favor, however FLAP still
has a chance at survival. To save FLAP, it is absolutely vital that you
write your Senators and Representative letting them know what an important,
successful program FLAP is, and asking them to support FLAP in the
conference committee. This is of immediate importance as the committee had
its first meeting yesterday.

For sample letters to conferees, visit the JNCL-NCLIS website,
http://www.languagepolicy.org, under the FLAP link.

Save FLAP!

Write to your Members of Congress NOW!
