I am currently a bilingual elementary student and working on a reasearch
paper of bilingual education. My paper is on the possible extinction of
some languages. The other part of my paper includes the loss of spanish
among the hispanic communities or shift of Spanish to English. I have
found this to be true in El Paso where I live. I have close friends
that they speak English and Spanish but they don't speak it to their
children. Hence, their kids don't speak nor do they understand when
being spoken to in Spanish. I want to know why they are doing this to
their kids. Another part of my research will include a survey to the
ordinary public if they speak and understand Spanish and if their
children speak it and understand it. I will be making a list of
questions to ask to investigate why these children are loosing the
Spanish and Americanizing to speak only English.

My professor told me I could contact you for some relevant articles on
my research. I would appreciate anything that you could provide for me.
I am in great need of some information and in urgence to receive it.

Thanks you,
Elsa Jasso
