We intend to create a language acquisition assessment instrument for our German Saturday school students as follows:

a) Testing oral skills (comprehension, communication)
b) Students are from ca. 4 - 7/8 years of age
c) Students do not read/write yet
d) Students are (very) young , do not have a long attention span.
e) Tests need to be short and economical (i.e. test a good number of students on any given day).
f) Tests will be for beginners in the language (not heritage learners with previous knowledge)
g) Tests need to be objective (comparable from student to student, school to school and year to year).
h) Statistics will need to accompany the results

There are many reasons why we need such a test. All of us in the business understand, therefore no long explanations here.

Do you know of organisations or groups who are working or have worked (and already have results) in this area ? In any language?

I would very much appreciate your help.
Renate
