 TWO PART-TIME RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIPS IN COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS
                   AT KING'S COLLEGE, LONDON



The Program in Computational Linguistics in the Philosphy Department at
King's College, London is offering two part-time research assistantships in
compuational linguistics. Each RA position is for a two year period from
October 1, 2000 until September 30, 2002.

The positions will be given to students who are accepted into our
MPhil/Ph.D program.

Details of the positions are as follows.

1. A half-time programming and NLP RA to assist in the implementation of a
computational semantics system within the framework of a constraint-based
grammar-parser.

This position is funded by an Arts and Humanities Research Board (AHRB)  grant.
It is for 50% of an RA1B ranked Researcher, and it will involve approximately 15
hours a week. The salary is from ?9,210 to 10,158, (inclusive of London Allowance),
on the RA1B scale. An interest in natural language semantics and strong programming
skills (preferably in Prolog and/or C) are required.

2. A part-time programming and NLP RA to assist in corpus research and
implementation of a dialogue project.

This position is funded by an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) grant.
The position is 40% of an RA1B ranked Researcher, and it will involve approximately
12 hours a week. The salary is from ?7,368 to ?8,127 (inclusive of London Allowance),
on the RA1B scale. An interest in computational approaches to dialogue and strong
programming skills (preferably in Prolog and/or C) are required.

Note that the appointment of each candidate must be approved by the funding agency that
provides the research grant covering the RA position.
