KATHMANDU, June 22: Speaker Subash Nemwang has spoken of the need of
publicising the diversity of different linguistic communities living in
Nepal throughout the world through the medium of films.

Inaugurating the International Indigenous Film Festival-2007 organised by
the Indigenous Film Archives here today, Speaker Nemwang pointed out that
the state and the related sector should extend cooperation to such
activities.

"We are at present in the process of building a new Nepal by framing a new
constitution through the Constituent Assembly on the basis of inclusiveness
and by incorporating the people from different linguistic communities, and
it is essential that all sides extend the necessary cooperation to that
end," he said.

President of Nepal Film Development Board, Shailesh Acharya wished success
to the film festival in raising the Nepali film industry to a position of
glory, stressing the need for preserving and promoting one's language and
culture.

Acting chief executive officer of Nepal Tourism Board, Subhash Niraula
underlined the need for protection and promotion of languages and culture,
which are the identity of the nation.

Member-secretary of the National Academy of Indigenous Nationalities Lok
Bahadur Thapa pointed out the need for bringing about transformation of the
indigenous nationalities into a prosperous society through the medium of
films.

President of the Festival Organising Body Nabin Subba said that 30 films
would be screened in the three-day long festival.
