Indigenous Issues Guidelines for UN Country Teams Most Important Recent
Achievements

As the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) today took up
indigenous issues and matters relating to the Second International Decade of
the World’s Indigenous People, speakers pointed to the continued
marginalization of indigenous peoples and stressed the importance of
integrating the indigenous community into national development processes, with
the aid of carefully developed intergovernmental mechanisms.
