*a soldier's wife *(for my Mom)

you do not see us
driving tanks
you do not see us
marching in ranks
we do not enlist
for only two years
and chase them down
with canteen beers
we don't get paid
for the days we work
we don't get paid
for the meals we cook
we stand at the station
and wave good bye
for the sake of our children
we can't even cry
alone on the porches
we look at our moon
praying to God
you will come home soon
we wait for days
for your orders to sail
then we pray and pray
for no telegraph mail
the children are growing
and still we wait
to see that soldier
come through the gate
the war is over
we lost many men
but the war will be back
and we'll wait again
some will be waiting
all of their lives
so lets remember
our soldiers wives

...Just wrote this and had to share it...my hands are still
shaking...and my heart.
