"Language is not merely a body of vocabulary or a set of grammatical rules. It is a flash of the human spirit, the means by which the soul of each particular culture reaches into the material world. Every language is an old-growth forest of the mind, a watershed of thought, an entire ecosystem of spiritual possibilities."

Mitakuyapi,

I have a twitter account for my organization and I set it up to tweet "something the elders say in Dakotah that you wouldn't learn in a college class."  I try to send something out every Monday.  Phrases such as "my condolences."  Unfortunately, without the audio you wouldn't learn the pronunciation unless you have someone to ask.

We also have an account on youtube and have posted two "movies" which are narrated books.  We are trying to get all 80 plus of our books narrated.

Our organization also has a facebook page and we put links to those youtube videos on our facebook page also.

Getting all of our language learning materials on the internet and creating computer related materials  is actually the focus of our organization this year.

Is there anyone out there using the whole social media network such
as Facebook, Twitter, etc. in promoting language initiatives or
announcements on these sites. One of the great things about this
list service is receiving information about what's happening from
various users, but I also think the whole social media network is
another great opportunity to share this information and create a
community.
