A language that was once thought to be lost could get a second lease on
life.

Barngarla community leaders are currently in discussions with Hincks Avenue
Primary School to introduce a pilot Barngarla language program.

Barngarla elder Anita Taylor said there was a strong desire by the
Barngarla community to revitalise its once dormant language and this meant
passing the culture on to future generations.

"We need to protect these Indigenous languages," Ms Taylor said.
