FACULTY POSITION
The School of Audiology and Speech Sciences at The University of
British Columbia has an opening for a tenure-track position at
the rank of Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2008. Primarily
located in Vancouver, a vibrant multicultural city renowned for
its natural beauty, UBC is among the best and largest of Canada's
universities. The School ([1] www.audiospeech.ubc.ca) is
expanding, with new faculty on board, new lab spaces in place,
and a significant space expansion occurring Summer 2008. In
addition to Ph.D. and post-doctoral education, the School offers
an intensive two-to-three-year program of graduate coursework
(Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology), research, and
supervised community-based clinical practice leading to the M.Sc.
degree. Duties of the new faculty member will include: research;
instruction in the area of child language, developmental language
disorders and clinical practice; and University/School service.
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree,
evidence of scholarly excellence, and demonstrated potential in
teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Applicants must have expertise in child language and
developmental language disorders. Preference will be given to
candidates who meet these criteria, and also have a clinical
qualification that conforms to Canadian Standards for practice in
speech-language pathology. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications. This position is subject to final budgetary
approval.
