Peter,

     First, make sure your are using FIrefox.  Next, you can find out  
if the problem is your connection speed by going into QuickTime and in  
the QuickTime Preferences under the Streaming tab, set you connection  
speed to 56 kbps Modem.  This will force the server to play MP3 audio  
instead of video.  If the transcript then plays OK with audio, you can  
conclude that your connection is too slow to support video playback.   
You may possibly be able to play around with your streaming rate to  
find something acceptable.
