Part-time (0.7 FTE) Teaching Fellow in Speech and Language Sciences

Newcastle University -School of Education, Communication & Language Science


Salary: £27,854 - £32,267 (with potential progression to £36,298) per annum (pro rata)

Newcastle University is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Speech and Language Sciences to teach on the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. You will join a vibrant and outward looking department with strong links to the speech and language therapy community on regional and national levels. The department maintains an international reputation as a centre of excellence for theoretical and clinically applicable research in human communication, with a number of world leading researchers on our staff. You will become part of a supportive team of skilled researchers, teachers and clinicians.


You will have opportunity to develop your academic and clinical teaching skills in an innovative and nurturing teaching environment. You will teach in your specialism of developmental speech and language disorders to undergraduate and postgraduate students, following established content. You will provide pastoral care to students within a structured framework. You can contribute to clinical teaching in the Children's SLT Clinic. There will be opportunity to gain mentored experience in programme administration. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is wishing to develop their skills in teaching to pre-registration SLTs.


You are a qualified speech and language therapist, with experience in teaching and/or providing clinical education to pre-registration speech and language therapists. You will be a specialist in paediatric speech and language therapy and have clinical experience in this area. You are looking for a new challenge and experience in a dynamic, yet nurturing, environment. You will be a good team player, with an understanding of evidence based practice and an interest in the development of the future generation of SLTs.
