Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions
Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology
University of Maryland, College Park

The Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology in the College of Education at
the University of Maryland is searching for two tenure-track Assistant Professors to join its faculty
beginning August, 2014. We seek scholars with research and teaching interests in the broad area of
psychology and human development as
 it pertains to social or cognitive processes, education, and
learning, whose work will complement and extend ongoing research programs in the department. The
individuals filling these positions will affiliate with the department’s highly ranked educational
psychology or developmental science specializations. The current faculty members in the
Department have internationally renowned research programs on different aspects of human
development and learning.

The department offers doctoral specializations in educational psychology, developmental science, and
measurement, statistics and evaluation, master’s degrees in human development and in measurement
and statistics, an undergraduate minor in human development, and a teacher
 certification program in
early childhood education. Faculty in the department make use of the research facilities at the Maryland
Neuroimaging Center (MNC: http://www.mnc.umd.edu/home) and the department houses the Center for
Young Children lab school. Graduates from the Department’s research-focused Ph.D. programs take
positions at major academic and research institutions. For more information about the current faculty’s

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or its equivalent in educational psychology,
human development, developmental psychology or a related field. Successful candidates will have a
strong scholarly record in their research area, potential or evidence of success at obtaining external
funding, and teaching at the college level.
