Lecturer in Spanish, SCHOOL OF MODERN LANGUAGE STUDIES

    This is a re-advertised position, previous applicants
need not apply.

    The Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies
has seven full-time staff and teaches undergraduate
courses at all levels in the Spanish language; Spanish and
Latin American social and political history, and
various areas of Hispanic culture. It also supervises
postgraduate research in these fields. The successful
applicant will participate in the teaching,
coordination and development of the Department's language
program at all levels.

    Essential criteria: native or near-native competence
in Spanish; postgraduate research degree in Spanish
linguistics, preferably with a special interest in second
language teaching and/or learning, and a documented
commitment to extend such research; demonstrated
excellence in teaching Spanish as a second language at all
levels in tertiary institutions, as well as an
understanding of equity and diversity principles.

    Desirable criteria: published and ongoing research in
the area of second language acquisition; interest in the
application of new technologies to second language
teaching and ability to participate elsewhere in the
Department's multi-disciplinary program.

    The salary range is A$48,678 - A$57,806 per year
depending on qualifications and experience. Membership of
a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition
of employment.
