Description:
University of Virginia, Charlottesville invites applicants for a 
full-time Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics, tenure 
track beginning August 25, 2008. Specialist in Applied 
Linguistics and/or Language Variation (both regional and social) 
to teach Spanish Phonetics and other courses in Spanish 
Linguistics such as, but not limited to, Spanish Dialectology and 
Spanish Sociolinguistics (both Peninsular and New World will be 
considered). Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and 
demonstrated excellence in teaching required. We are also seeking 
a candidate with the ability to redesign 300- and 400-level 
grammar courses. Experience in directing/supervising language 
courses is therefore a plus.

Review of applications will begin November 15. We will hold 
initial interviews at the MLA Convention. Please apply online.

statement of teaching philosophy. Please arrange to have three 
letters of recommendation and teaching dossier mailed to
