Announcement: Graduate Fellowship Opportunity
------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ph.D. Program in Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center
<https://www.gc.cuny.edu/Page-Elements/Academics-Research-Centers-Initiatives/Doctoral-Programs/Anthropology>
(City University of New York) welcomes applications for fellowships for
training in cultural and linguistic anthropology.

The descriptions for our subdisciplines can be found here:

Cultural Anthropology:

Linguistic Anthropology:

APPLICATION
The application deadline for admission and for funding opportunities
is December 1 annually. The admissions procedures can be found online here:
http://www.gc.cuny.edu/Prospective-Current-Students/Prospective-Students/Application-Instructions-Forms

Three especially important aspects of the application are: (1) the
admissions essay, (2) your writing sample, and (3)a list of at least 3
faculty members who might be interested in your project. We ask this
because we are, of course, very interested in admitting students who have a
direct interest in working with our faculty. Here is a link to our faculty
webpage. It includes a short profile about each faculty member.
http://www.gc.cuny.edu/Page-Elements/Academics-Research-Centers-Initiatives/Doctoral-Programs/Anthropology/Faculty
You might wish to use this as a starting point, if necessary, to identify
faculty with whom you might wish to work.

FUNDING
We usually have 15 or so fellowships available for cultural and linguistic
anthropology students per year. Each is guaranteed some form of financial
support ranging from tuition scholarship to full stipends of $25,000 per
year for five years (the latter includes teaching) and a possible
supplement. Information about the different fellowships can be found here:
http://www.gc.cuny.edu/Prospective-Current-Students/Current-Students/Financial-Assistance/Fellowships-and-Grants
We also welcome students with outside funding packages, especially from
their countries of origin, if they are international students.

Please contact the department chair Jeff Maskovsky (jmaskovsky at gc.cuny.edu)
if you have any questions.
