The Program in Linguistics at Emory University is now accepting
applications for the position of *Visiting Assistant Professor of
Sociolinguistics*, starting August 2019. PhD in Linguistics required;
degree in hand is preferred, but advanced ABDs will be considered. The
position is for one year (9-month contract), with the possibility of
renewing for a second. The teaching load is 5 courses (3-2). We are looking
for a dynamic instructor to teach “Foundations of Linguistics,”
“Introduction to Sociolinguistics,” and “Language Variation,” as well as
upper-level courses in sociophonetics, topics in language variation &
change, or other areas of the candidate’s expertise. Come join our thriving
undergraduate program with approximately 100 majors in Linguistics,
Psychology/Linguistics, and Spanish/Linguistics.
