I wanted to share an *Anthropology News, *Society for Linguistic
Anthropology column that I co-authored with my student Melanie Brown
(copied here), based on her senior thesis project.

The column, titled "Speak American," addresses the ways that US news
coverage of language policing events functions as a racializing discourse.
