Dear Colleagues, I am writing to bring your attention to a General Faculty Position in Linguistics at UVA hosted in the Anthropology Department for academic year 2021-22. Please share.

The Anthropology Department at the University of Virginia seeks to hire a fieldwork-oriented linguist for a one-year appointment as an Academic General Faculty Member (Tenure-Ineligible) at the Assistant Professor rank. The term of appointment runs from August 24, 2021 through May 23, 2022. Unless the current U.S. trajectory of the pandemic worsens, the University of Virginia plans to return to in-classroom instruction in fall 2021. Candidates should therefore expect to be in residence in Charlottesville VA for the 21-22 academic year. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester in structural linguistics, to contribute to the interdepartmental Linguistics M.A. program and the undergraduate major in Linguistics. Candidates should be both theoretically oriented and empirically grounded in linguistics, and should show a commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicants must have a PhD in hand at the time of application. Interviews with finalists will be conducted online.

Review of applications will begin June 7, 2021 and continue until the position is filled
