Not sure if this is the kind of thing you’re looking for but I always get my students to listen to the “You’re Wrong About” episode on ebonics:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLCOExaz_Ks&ab_channel=You%27reWrongAbout
It always blows their mind and leads to interesting discussions about what people consider “bad language”.

Dear Colleagues,
I am planning to teach a course next fall ? bad language and semiotic
crimes. I am wondering what articles or books you would recommend that I
teach.

Thank you for any and all suggestions,
Ilana
