Subject:  future tense discourse
 
Hi everybody,
 
I am looking for texts written in the German future tense (yes, I do
believe there is such a thing!). Could anybody help me out with references?
I want to compare the frequency of temporal adverbial anaphors in
future tense discourses to the frequency in past tense discourses. Thus, it
would be best to have novels, short stories etc. by the same autor in
both tenses.

Does anyone know of any references which refer to or deal with petese - the
simplified speech register people use when addressing animals or pets
(similar to motherese/parentese).

   I am @positing this mail on behalf of my colleague who is not on this list
His query is about the use of "indirect request" using can, will, could, would.
Here is his query:

What kind of auxiliary verb is most suitable in the blanks below?
  (1) _       _ you do me a favor? (to a friend)
  (2) _       _ you stop, please? (to a taxi driver)
  (3) _       _ you lend me ten dollars? (to a friend)
  (4) Excuse me, but _      _ you tell me the way to the station? (
      to a stranger)
  (5) _       _ you tell the court your occupation, please? (to a witness)
  (6) _       _ you type this letter, please? (to a friend)
  (7) _       _ you type this letter, please? (to a secretary)

His point is, I think, whether are there any differences between _can_
,_could_, and _will_, would_ in the use of "idirect request".
