                     TESOL Job Announcement
 
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in TESOL at
the Assistant or Associate rank in the TESOL Program at
California State University, Los Angeles (CSLA).  Effective start
date is Fall Quarter 1997.
 
Minimum qualifications are an earned Ph.D. (for tenure) or ABD in
applied linguistics or closely related field and ESL/EFL teachig
experience. Expertise in second language theory and practice,
including teaching methodology, and interest in teaching in a
multicultural environment are required.  Expertise in two of the
following areas is desirable: materials and curriculum design,
sociolinguistics, language policy and language testing.
 
Principal duties include teaching methodology courses and
developing and supervising the ESL practicum.  In addition, the
candidate will be expected advise MA thesis and project students,
and conduct scholarly research.  Starting salary is between
$37,140 and $42,636.  Full benefits are provided.
 
CSLA has a vibrant MA TESOL program on the LA campus and an
equally exciting MA TESOL program in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  In
the recent past, it has been the site of an annual three-month
Fullbright-funded teacher training program for Egyptian teachers
of EFL.
