LINGUIST subscribers unable to record Jean Aitchison's 1996 Reith
Lectures `The Language Web' directly from BBC Radio 4 may find the
following information useful:
 
1 Tapes of the lectures are NOT available from the BBC.
 
2 Extracts/summaries of each (Tuesday evening) lecture appear the
following day in The Independent newspaper.
 
3 Full transcripts of each lecture are available from the BBC.  They
cost GBP3.50 each or GBP15.00 for all five.  These can be ordered by
sending a cheque for the relevant amount made payable to the British
Broadcasting Corporation to: Room 8054, BBC Broadcasting House, London
W1A 1AA, United Kingdom.
 
4 The lectures are being `reworked' for publication as a book later in
1996.
 
NB The lectures are broadcast of BBC Radio 4 Tuesday evenings from
8.30pm- 9.00pm GMT.
