Subject:   Consultant position in Thai linguistics


WANTED: Native Thai speaker with linguistics background for tasks
related to natural-language processing applications.  Verification of
corpora for syllable, word, and sentence boundaries.  Part-of-speech
labeling.  Definition of rules to detect Thai syllable boundaries.
Definition of Thai grammar rules in a context-free format.  Applicant
will work on a project sponsored by the University of Maryland's
Computational Linguistics and Information Processing Laboratory (CLIP).
This is a short term consulting position for which the applicant may
not have to relocate.  Applicants should contact Professor Bonnie
Dorr ( bonnie at umiacs.umd.edu).

Richard Hogg and Nigel Vincent have two six-year research posts
for a project entitled "Archaism and Innovation in the Languages of
Europe". We are looking for recently-completed PhD students with a
specialism in the broad area of morphosyntactic change, one with an
interest in Germanic, the other with  an interest in Romance.
