The English Department, PENDING FINAL APPROVAL OF THE COLLEGE
BOARD, will be allowed to advertise the following position within a
few weeks. Because of the summer recess, I am afraid many of you might
miss it, and therefore I have gotten permission to put this
pre-advertisement on e-mail lists. I would appreciate it very much if
you would bring it to the attention of suitable candidates.

I estimate that the official advertisement in Dutch newspapers (and on
e-mail lists) will come out in the middle of next month and that the
application deadline is middle of August. Interviews will probably be
held in September. The appointment will be per January 1998 at the
earliest and hopefully no later than August 1998.

For more information about the department and the research program,
you will find names and addresses at the bottom of the advertisement.

Sincerely, Marjolijn H. Verspoor
