Dear All,

Could anyone please tell me whether there are any exceptions to the
following rule:

Verbs, in the first person singular, that end in 'ck' become 'cks' in
the third person singular (e.g. lock-locks); whereas verbs, ending in
'x' become 'xes' (e.g. mix-mixes).

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thank you,

Rowena Snaith

Subject: interlanguage syntax

I am doing research for my undergraduate thesis on interlanguage
syntax in electronic communication of second language learners of
French and English.
I am trying to collect a large corpora of electronic text (especially
electronic mail) in English composed by native French speakers and
also in French composed by native English speakers. The content of
the text is not very important. If anyone knows of any sources or can
send me a few samples (with the age and length of language study
noted), I would greatly appreciate it.

Je vous remercie en avance.

Can anyone recommend individual Thai-language learning materials for a
14-year-old Thai-American boy who has some Thai-language skills (both
speaking and reading, perhaps at the level of an 8-yr-old Thai
schoolchild. He's strongly motivated to improve his language abilities
this summer and would work well alone with CD-ROMS and/or videos
and/or Internet sites. Such media don't necessarily have to be "Thai
language instruction" formally. They could also be, for instance,
educational materials being marketed in Bangkok to Thai families who
want to supplement their children's education." Recommended items
need not be available in the United States, though that would be nice.
We can arrange purchases in Bangkok.

Please email your reply directly to me "julie at munrolink.com"

Thanks. Julie Munro
