Subject:  Lecturer in Japanese Language

The University of Southern California invites applications for a
full-time lecturer position in Japanese language beginning the 1998-1999
academic year.  The initial appointment, starting the fall semester of
1998, is for up to three years, with the possibility of renewal.  The
obligations include the active involvement in curriculum development.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least an M.A. degree in
Linguistics, Language Pedagogy, or related fields.  Applicants should be
capable of teaching modern Japanese at any level.

Interested candidates should send a letter of application, CV, a sample
teaching video tape demonstrating teaching ability, a statement of
teaching/research interest and three letters of recommendation by January
5th to:

University) for further information.

Eligibility: US citizen or permanent resident, within 10 years of PhD
(any field).

Areas: Phonology-phonetics, C/D model, syllable structure.  Much
phonetic and morphological data are available on Bantu languages, but
expertise/experience on other languages is welcome.

 A monthly family allowance of 50,000yen if accompanied by dependents
 A settling-in allowance of 200,000yen.
 A research/travel (domestic) allowance of 150,000yen.
 Accident and sickness insurance coverage for the Fellow only.
