Does anyone out there have a listing of all the languages of the
Indian subcontinent? And how about a listing of Chinese dialects? I'd
be very grateful for any help in locating this information. I'm trying
to identify the languages and regions to which a range of my
multilingual students are related. Thank you.

Subject: NS English teaching & ESOL/EFL methodology

What are the differences between teaching English to monolingual
native speakers and to speakers for whom it will be a second or other
language? How do these differences translate into methodology? What
do NS teachers do/don't do that EFL/ESOL teachers do/don't!?

Furthermore, how does methodology differ between EFL/ESOL teaching and
teaching English to non-native speakers BUT in an immersion or other
bilingual setting? Can English be taught in an immersion/bilingual
setting AS IF to monolingual native speakers?

I'd be interested (and grateful) for your comments.

Subject: Qs: Acquisition of the verb "put"

The English verb "put" is a crucial part of our experimental
materials. However, we realized that we are unfamiliar with the
research which has undoubtfully been conducted on acquisition of this
verb and its arguments (which PP arguments are most frequent in the
parent child-directed speech, etc.). Could any of you in the land of
developmental psycholinguistics educate us on the relevant findings?

We will also be interested in finding out about this verb's
statistical properties in corpus analysis.

Please respond off the list to sekerina at linc.cis.upenn.edu.

Thank you,

Does anyone know the exact bibliographic reference for Andrew
Spencer's 1995 article On the Typology of Deverbal Nominalizations? I
think I downloaded it from somewhere and I don't have the reference.
It looks like a chapter from a book. I checked the MLA database and
couldn't find it there.

Thank you.
