English as a Second Language: Program Head, English Studies at the
Assistant or Associate Professor Level (1/3 administration, 2/3
teaching).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications include: (1) Ph.D. or equivalent in Application
Linguistics, TESOL, or closely related field; (2) expertise in
teaching graduate level EAP courses (all skill areas); (3) program
administration experience; (4) strong interpersonal and cross-cultural
skills. Capacity to contribute to the MATESOL/TFL curriculum highly
desirable. This is a regular appointment with increasing contract
length up to five years (renewable).

QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Second-Language Acquisition,
or a closely related field; (2) Demonstrated excellence in teaching at
least three of the following at graduate level: sociolinguistics,
second langauge acquisition, methods of language teaching, curriculum
design, introduction to linguisitics, language testing, educational
research methods, and pedagogical grammar. Other teaching areas may
be helpful (e.g., training teacher supervisors and/or teacher
educators); (3) Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to
work well with colleagues and students. ABD with extensive
graduate-level teaching experience, and/or international teacher
training may be considered.
STARTING DATE: Mid-August, 1998
SALARY and BENEFITS:
Nine-month position includes full benefits (medical, dental, long-term
disability, vision). Salary depends upon qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching, advising, outreach required. May be renewed yearly.
Specialty in Methods, Sociolinguistics, Second Langauge Acquisition
and/or Structure of English preferred.

York University, Toronto, Canada seeks applicants for a one year
contractully limited position in linguistics.
The position is subject to budgetary approval by the University.
Qualifications: Ph.D., or ABD with an expected thesis completion date
prior to September 1, 1998; strong research record, publications and
demonstrated teaching ability. We are seeking a versatile candidate
whose primary area of expertise is in the area of syntax. The
Linguistics Programme at York offers a broad range of courses and
encompasses a variety of interests and theoretical approaches.
Consequently, in addition to teaching syntax at the undergraduate
level, the successful candidate will have competence in and be
prepared to teach in one or more of the following areas: phonology,
second language acquisition and discourse analysis.
