The Sixth Annual Meeting of the Austronesian Formal Linguistics
Association*
University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada
April 16-18, 1999
Special Topic:  Reduplication

Invited speakers include:Juliette Blevins, Daniel Finer, Mark Hale, Paul
Kroeger, Elizabeth Pearce, Lisa Travis
Invited student speakers include: Catherine Kitto, Ileana Paul

Abstracts are invited for 30 minute talks (20 minute presentations + 10
minute question period) on any aspect of formal linguistics (e.g.,
phonology, phonetics, syntax, semantics, morphology,  first-language
acquisition) of any Austronesian language.  Applicants are limited to one
singly-authored and one jointly-authored abstract.  Abstracts should be
one page long, with an additional page for data or references.
Submissions may be made by regular mail or email.

Abstracts related to this year's special topic (Reduplication) are
particularly encouraged.

To submit an abstract by regular mail, send 3 anonymous copies of the
abstract to the address below.  Also include an index card bearing your
name, affiliation, your mailing address, email address, the subdiscipline
of your abstract (phonology, syntax, etc.), and status (student or
non-student).

For submissions by email, send one copy of your abstract, along with your
name, addresses, subdiscipline, and status to:   aflavi at chass.utoronto.ca


DEADLINE for receipt of abstracts:  February 1, 1999.


This year, 2 outstanding student abstracts will be selected to receive an
award covering conference expenses (travel and accommodation) up to $500.
For those eligible, please  indicate student status on your abstract to
ensure that you will be considered for these awards.
