The following is a position available at the Annandale Campus of
Northern Virginia Community College, located in metropolitan Washington,
D.C.  I've included the description from the official posting and the

Cordinator, ESL Program, Continuing Education (Position FA268) (This
number MUST be included with your resume.)  Salary $46,560-$63,279 +
benefits. Effective March 10, 1999. 12 month, full time administrative
faculty position.  Primarily supervises and manages the Community
Education ESL Program, including supervision of administrative and
office support staff, resource development, curriculum and new course
development, marketing the program, and advising students concerning
issues related to the ESL program and the college.  Represents the
Program within the college and community.  Requires: Master's degree
with 18 graduate credits in TESOL or linguistics.  Desired: Specialist
degree (24 gsh beyond the Master's); 10 years of teaching experience in
ESL in a higher education setting; two years of experience in
administering an ESL program in a higher education setting; good
knowledge of federal regulations related to visas of students who wish
to study or who are studying in the United States.  Applications or

PENN STATE.  Languages and Literatures

Associate Director for Instructional Technology, Language Acquisition
Center, The Pennsylvania State University.   4-year full-time, fixed-term
appointment as Senior Lecturer, with benefits, starting August 1999.
Possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities include: work with academic departments to implement
technology in language teaching, for both resident instruction and
distance learning; write grant proposals for the development and
assessment of technology in language teaching and in second language
acquisition research; teach a course, offered in one or more of the
language departments, on technology in language instruction, and
conduct workshops on that topic.

Requirements: Ph.D. in applied linguistics or related field; knowledge
of the role of technology in language learning and teaching, language
teaching methodologies, and second language acquisition research; high
level of communicative ability in written and spoken English and at
least one other language; foreign/second language teaching experience;
ability to work collaboratively with colleagues of diverse
backgrounds, interests, and levels of technology expertise.

The Associate Director for Instructional Technology reports to the
Director of the Center.
