Lecturer in English Linguistics

The English Department of the University of Turku (Finland)
invites applications for the position of  Lecturer in Linguistics.
The position will be available from August 1, 1999, initially for
one year, but with possibility of tenure.

Required Qualifications:
-  a Ph.D. or the equivalent in English linguistics
-  relevant research and publications
-  the ability to teach within several related fields, theoretical and
applied, including discourse linguistics
-  native or near-native command of English

The successful candidate will:
-  teach graduate and undergraduate courses in English linguistics,
and may be required to do some language proficiency teaching
-  participate in the planning and development of teaching within
the Department

All teaching in the English Department is given in English. A
knowledge of Finnish is an asset but not a pre-requisite for this
post. The starting salary for a lecturer is between ca.FIM141,000
(23,800 Euro) and FIM180,000 (30,300 Euro) per year before tax
(depending on teaching experience).

other relevant academic work (but do NOT submit any actual
publications at this point)
c) copies of academic diplomas and documentation of teaching
experience

Japanese Software Localization Specialist

Annotating dictionary entries with lexical bits and syntactic and
semantic features.  Native Japanese proficiency required. Editorial
experience highly valued.  Prior lexicographic exp. a plus.

Academic or industry exp. handling Japanese language, excluding
translation is acceptable.
