We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was

I'm looking for a book called:
Reading Chinese Script: A Cognitive Analysis
By:
Jian, W. and Inhoff, A.
I've searched the internet and all of the university libraries in
Illinois, and am unable to find it in any of them. Even a
recollection of it would be helpful.

I am looking for a good reference or two on the subject of coordination
where one (or both) of the conjuncts appears not to be a syntactic
constituent. I recall reading a paper on this a few years ago, presumably in
the CG or HPSG framework, but can't locate it now. Examples:

(1) They have been known to [purchase] and [deal in] illegal goods

(2) I took the bus [Monday to school] and [Tuesday to the store]

I'm applying to US universities, I was wondering whether anyone knows
of a list which offer linguistics Ph.D. programs?
