Because of the unavailability of the following notice on the Linguist
List for several weeks last month, we are extending the deadline for
applications to July 7, 1999.

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst
anticipates a one-semester sabbatical replacement position for a
visiting assistant professor in the area of syntax for Spring 2000,
contingent on funding. Duties will include teaching at least one
introductory undergraduate course in linguistics.

A letter of application, curriculum vitae, sample papers or
publications, three letters of recommendation, and teaching evaluations
if possible, should be sent to:

Syntax Search Committee
Linguistics Department
226 South College
University of Massachusetts
Amherst, MA 01003-7130

Women and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. The
University of Massachusetts is an equal opportunity/affirmative action
employer.
