(Senior) Speech Engineer/Technical Linguist:

The Speech Engineer/Technical Linguist is responsible for developing,
optimizing, and maintaining recognition grammars for our applications.
Key activities include transcribing and improving pronunciations of
out-of-vocabulary words, typically proper names. You will work closely
with other speech engineers to achieve high quality performance of our
speech recognition technology. You will also interact closely with our
applications development team to ensure that the grammars developed can
be integrated optimally into production, such as conditional grammars.

Specific responsibilities include: Developing/managing larger grammars
for our applications; Generating phonetic pronunciations for
out-of-vocabulary words; Iteratively tuning the grammars and
pronunciations for optimal performance; Designing tools for grammar
development and documenting how to use the tools; Collecting test data
to evaluate the grammars. Translating generated phonetic transcriptions
to user dictionaries to be used by Text-to-Speech system.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Education: MS in CS, EE, Linguistics or equivalent.
2. Experience: For the technical linguist position, you should have
linguistics background, familiar with language grammars and phonetics;
For the speech engineer position, you should have experience in
programming in C/C++ and should be comfortable with scripting programs
such as Perl. For both positions, familiarity with speech recognition
technology is preferred. You should be a good team player but can also
work independently.

Senior Research Engineer/NLU Technology:

Position Summary: Design and implement algorithms for natural language
processing. Develop and improve grammar for optimized speech recognition
performance and natural language interpretation. Architect and develop
algorithms for text normalization and parsing for better text-to-speech
synthesis results. You should be innovative and a good team player.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Education: MS in CS, EE, Linguistics or equivalent. PhD is asset
2. Experience: Solid programming experience (2 or more years) in C/C++.
Experience with speech recognition, natural language processing, or
text-to-speech synthesis is required. Knowledge/experience of
statistical algorithms for natural language processing is highly
desirable. Knowledge of Perl is a plus.
