The Chair of Linguistics, the Chair of East Asian History, and the
Language Center at the University of Erfurt invite applications for
two full time research positions (BAT-IIa Ost, salary range according
to age and experience).

The positions are part of the project entitled "Multimedia Materials
for Teaching Japanese and Chinese" which is funded jointly by the
German Federal Government and the Federal State of Thuringia.
Responsibilities will include the development of new multimdia
materials for teaching these languages and their evaluation in
language courses.

The successful candidate will work in a well-funded multidisciplinary
team environment and will collaborate with researchers at the academic
institutions previously listed.

These positions require a diploma or an equivalent university degree
(MA) in a related discipline.

Additionally, one of the following abilities is essential, and the
others are desirable:
- an excellent knowledge of the Japanese and/or Chinese language,
and/or
- basic knowledge of general or applied linguistics/language
acquisition research and/or
- good computer skills (Windows and Mac), especially familiarity with
digital editing of graphics and videos and with production of DVD and
CD-Roms.

The contract terminates on December 31st, 2001 with the option for a
one-year extension starting on January 1st, 2002.
