Description:

The Department of Linguistics, University of Leipzig, invites
applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position (German
payscale BAT-O IIa), to begin immediately. The position is offered for
two years, but with the possibility of an extension (pending
successful fund-raising).

The successful candidate must have completed a PhD degree (not
ABD). He or she will work on a research project on typological
variation in phonological and grammmatical word domains. Project PIs
are Professors Balthasar Bickel and Tracy Hall, and typological data
collection will be done in the framework of the international AUTOTYP
research program (www.uni-leipzig.de/~asw).

The ideal candidate will have solid training and experience in
phonology, morphology, and typological methods. Knowledge of database
technology is an additional advantage.

Candidates are requested to send their CV, two letters of
recommendation, two sample publications (or other written work), and a
summary of their dissertation (max.  2 pages) to the address given
above.

Review of applications begins May 9, 2003, and ends when the position
