that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Rank of Job: Program Manager - Software Development
Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics, Morphology

Description:

The Natural Language Group is looking for an experienced program
manager to help shape the future of NL analysis for search and
document creation applications across Microsoft. NLG's components are
used by a broad range of applications to get smarter, more useful
features based on the users' own words (be they in Japanese, or
French, etc.)

As PM for the Lexical Services Platform you will drive the first
release of a multi-language component platform that supports
tokenization, morphology, spelling, compounding, and other word and
phrase level natural language analysis. This is a key PM role in NLG,
and will play a significant part in the formation and fulfillment of
the group's long-term strategy. To thrive in this job you'll need
great PM skills, plus experience with natural language techniques and
algorithms. Most importantly, you'll need a passion for turning NL
techniques into better user experience for a wide range of
customers-from IR and search to support for document understanding
features.

We are a product group with a focus on enabling high value-add
features that give great benefits to the end user - successful PM's in
our group can visualize the potential of NL technologies while using
pragmatism and experience in applying the technology to provide
significant customer benefit for MS products in the short term.

Responsibilities include driving the overall LSP project plan,
representing the customer while working with development on system
design, specification and scheduling of features, and communications
with team, management, and clients. Cross-team coordination skills and
the ability to manage dependencies are also required. Preferred
experience includes 3+ years of successful PM track record, experience
with the application of text analysis to search or documents
applications, knowledge of cross-language issues, degree in either
Computer Science or Linguistics and, or equivalent industry
experience. A specific background in computational linguistics,
information retrieval, or information extraction is highly desirable.

Electronic resume submission is preffered and can be sent to Zoe
Goldring at zoeg at microsoft.com.
