Position in Linguistics in the Department of Anthropology at
Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt University announces a position in linguistics in the
Department of Anthropology at the tenure-track, assistant professorial
level, with a preference for a candidate studying a native
Mesoamerican language, especially Maya. Theoretical interests should
engage issues of culture, social life and cognition.  Excellence in
teaching is essential and should span basic courses in linguistics as
well as the candidate's theoretical specialization.

The successful applicant will join a research-oriented department of
anthropology focused on Latin America with an outstanding, well-funded
doctoral program, and participate in a linguistics program that
includes departments in the languages, the humanities, and the social
sciences.  Vanderbilt rewards excellence in teaching and research with
