Lecturer in Linguistics (Level B) ('Lecturer' in Australia is
equivalent to tenure track assistant professor in the US)

To strengthen its commitment to its online MA in Applied Linguistics,
the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics is seeking to make a
continuing appointment in Linguistics at Lecturer Level B.

The appointee will undertake undergraduate and graduate-level teaching
in Applied Linguistics, but also in general linguistics and
sociolinguistics as necessary. Units are taught both on-campus and in
external (distance) mode, with a strong emphasis on online
delivery. The applicant will be an active researcher, preferably in
Applied Linguistics, and will be qualified to supervise research
students in Applied Linguistics topics.

Applicants must have a PhD in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics (or
be near submission), a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of
UNE's undergraduate and graduate-level units in Applied Linguistics
and general linguistics, a strong research profile in an area
compatible with existing staff activities, and good interpersonal and
teamwork skills.

It will be advantageous to have one or more of the following:
experience in distance education, skills in online/multimedia
curriculum development, experience in degree coordination and
administration, expertise in TESOL or LOTE (especially in a language
taught within the School), and familiarity with international
marketing and recruitment, and trends in international education.

The successful candidate will be expected to take up duties in January

Salary: AU$54546 to AU$64647 (Level B) (currently around US$37,654 to
44,628) plus up to 17% employer superannuation and salary packaging
