Subject:  linguistics of though

I had a discussion with a friend of mine who was wondering about the
relevance of the word ''though'' I tried explaining the many aspects
behind its use, but felt very disadvantaged. I told her that there
ought to be papers on the topic, but I only have come across one (by
Mendez-Naya and Lopez-Couso). However this is on complement clauses
introduced by if and though. We are looking for research on though
used finally. Hope there's someone out there who knows what I'm
looking for! Thanks.
